Wisdom teeth removal service

About Wisdom teeth removal

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to come in, usually in the late teens or twenties. When there isn’t room, they can come in at an angle, get stuck, or crowd other teeth — causing pain, infection, or damage.

We’ll take an X-ray, assess how the teeth sit, and give you a straight answer on whether they need to come out and how we’d do it.

What’s involved

Do wisdom teeth always need to come out?

Not always. If they come in straight, have room, and can be kept clean, they can often stay. Removal is recommended when they’re impacted, painful, repeatedly infected, or damaging nearby teeth.

We won’t recommend taking them out without a genuine reason. If they’re fine, we’ll simply keep an eye on them at your checkups.

Some cases are referred. Complex or deeply impacted wisdom teeth may be best handled by an oral surgeon — if so, we’ll arrange the referral and stay involved.

Common questions

Common signs are aching or swelling at the back of the mouth, difficulty opening, or repeated gum infections around the area. An X-ray tells us for certain.

The area is fully numbed and sedation is available. Most discomfort comes afterwards and is well managed with pain relief and following your aftercare.

Most people feel much better within a few days, with fuller healing over a week or two. Swelling and tenderness are normal early on.

Many wisdom teeth are removed under local freezing with optional sedation. Fully asleep is only for complex cases, usually with a specialist.
